Bus services under threat following cut in grant

Shale Gas exploration application in the Vale goes to Appeal

Vale MP Alun Cairns expressed his concern upon receiving confirmation that Coastal Oil & Gas, the company behind a controversial gas drilling scheme in Llandow is appealing the Vale Council’s rejection of its plans to the Welsh Government. 

Mr Cairns is keen for local residents and businesses to submit their representations and opinions with Welsh Government’s Planning Inspectorate by the 14th February 2012.   

To make a written representation you can do so by using this generic letter which you can then personalise with your own views and concerns or visit the Planning Inspectorate website  to register your views.

Council outline their draft plans for future land development across the Vale

Shale Gas exploration plans halted in the Vale

Residents will know by now that the Vale Planning Committee met last Thursday and unanimously objected to the planning application to test drill for shale gas in Llandow.

A terrific result and a huge success for The Vale Says No campaigners, residents, businesses and local politicians who all actively voiced their concerns and lodged their objections to the gas exploration planning application.  Back in March I published an article in the Gem drawing attention to the application and noted my strong objections to the application for the search for shale gas by Coastal Oil & Gas. Barry misses out once again

Barry has missed out again on support for Business.  PRIDE in Barry, other business groups and I have been calling for Barry to be awarded Enterprise Zone Status to help regenerate the area and attract new employers. 

Enterprise Zones were established in England some time ago and we have been calling on the Welsh Government to follow suit here in Wales, where Barry could have been the first.  Unfortunately, they have delayed and dragged out the issue for too long and earlier this week we saw Jaguar Landrover opt to establish their new factory in an Enterprise Zone in the West Midlands.  Read more →
