Local MP drops in to see Food Co-operative in action

Alun Cairns MP visited the very busy and popular Dunlin Court Food Co-operative in Barry last week.

The Vale MP was keen to see for himself the masses of fresh, good quality fruit and vegetables at cost prices for the residents of Barry at The People’s Centre in the centre of Barry. The Co-operative opens between 12 – 2pm every Friday at the Centre in Dunlin’s Court, and currently over 1000 food parcels are ordered every week. Read more →

Pushing to maximise use of the Drop In Centre Services at Castleland Community Centre

Vale MP Alun Cairns has called on the Vale Council and Barry community to make full use of the excellent new facilities at the Castleland Community Centre and the services provided by Drop In Centre Development Trust.

Mr Cairns visited the centre to see how the £500,000 renovation and refurbishment was serving the community. The BIG Lottery Fund money and the funds from the Welsh Government’s CFAP grant fund has transformed the building, increasing the Drop in Centre’s current community services in support of local residents. Local pharmacy appeal decision comes to a head

Last November Alun Cairns MP repeated his calls for the need for a pharmacy at West Quay Medical Centre on Barry Waterfront. Welsh Government bureaucracy has blocked calls from patients and doctors alike.

The Vale MP played a part in winning agreement and pushing through the need for a new Medical Centre over three years ago. His focus since then has been to allow for local pharmacies to use the pharmacy space on the new medical centre site. Welsh Assembly Government rules mean that pharmacies sited closest to the site are not permitted to apply because they are the wrong side of the railway line. Read more →

Dockers Final winners 2013

Vale MP Alun Cairns attended the Dockers Cup Final in the Vale of Glamorgan Association Football League Divison 2 and presented the Park Veterans team with the trophy.

Mr Cairns was invited to attend the Cup Final where the Park Veterans took on Mason’s Moving Group at the Jenner Park stadium. Read more →
