Westminster to Paris charity cycle challenge

A group of Vale fathers have just completed a cycling challenge from Westminster to Paris with their local MP, to raise money for charity.

The successful charity challenge, which featured Vale MP Alun Cairns, was organised by fathers of pupils at Ysgol Iolo Morganwg in Cowbridge who last year cycled from Cowbridge to Westminster to raise funds for Barry charity, MIND in the Vale.

This year’s challenge will raise money for T? Hapus in Barry which is an innovative centre designed to relieve and promote the relief and treatment of people with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Read more →

Investment at St Athan for Cardiff Aviation

Alun Cairns MP has welcomed the news that Cardiff Aviation, the aircraft maintenance and flight training organisation set up by Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, has secured a £5m investment which will allow it to manufacture aircraft parts

The Vale MP had visited the fledgling company based in St Athan in March this year, to welcome the latest staff to the team. This new investment includes £1.6m from Finance Wales, with the remainder being provided by private investors. Read more →

Help improve mobile coverage across the Vale

Alun Cairns MP is calling on Vale residents to collect data on mobile phone coverage, to help improve the service and mobile signal coverage across the Vale.

The data is collected via a smartphone app that tests mobile signal strength. Mobile signal varies significantly across the Vale, with some rural areas suffering from little or no signal.

The Vale MP believes that the data collected from customers’ real experience of coverage will ensure that mobile providers will improve their coverage. Read more →

Calling FAW full member clubs to support reformed Barry Town United AFC

Alun Cairns MP for the Vale of Glamorgan has written to all Full Member Clubs of the FAW to support a request to the FAW to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting.

The EGM of the Full Member Clubs would be an opportunity to consider the decision making process and associated matters that was followed during the FAW Council meeting held on 13th June 2013.

Alun Cairns MP recently visited the new fruit nursery in Llandow as it was planning to harvest its first crop of strawberries.

S&A Produce (UK) Limited purchased the former Springfield Nursery site in Llandow as a Welsh addition to its other UK sites to. Keen to provide customers across the UK with a Welsh offering, Springfield Soft Fruit Ltd is also looking to support the local area by providing employment opportunities. Read more →
