Protecting human rights in this country

Britain has always valued human rights and ensured it is reflected within our values and institutions. Indeed, the UK was a founding member of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), yet it now seems to have become a real problem to us.  In some instances it prevents us from taking action to protect ourselves and our nation’s culture.   This needs to change.  Read more →

I was disappointed to learn that Coastal Oil & Gas, the company behind a controversial gas drilling scheme in Llandow is appealing the Vale Council’s rejection of its plans to the Welsh Government.

A packed public meeting in Barry

More than two hundred people attended a public meeting in Barry on Monday evening to oppose a plan that could allow the development of 180 houses on Brynhill Golf Club. 

The background to this issue is relevant to the whole of the Vale because it relates to the Local Development Plan (LDP) and may well be the first of many such meetings across the county. 

In summary, the Welsh Government require every local authority to draft a LDP, which is essentially a document that outlines where and where not building is likely to be permitted or rejected until 2026.  Read more →
