Campaign against inefficient and intermittent onshore wine turbines

Local MP Alun Cairns has joined with 105 other MPs from the four largest political parties represented in the House of Commons and written to the Prime Minister urging a reduction in the amount of subsidy given to onshore wind.

The joint letter also asks for amendments to be made to the National Planning Policy Framework to help protect the rural landscape and heritage sites across the country. Read more →

Shale Gas exploration application in the Vale goes to Appeal

Vale MP Alun Cairns expressed his concern upon receiving confirmation that Coastal Oil & Gas, the company behind a controversial gas drilling scheme in Llandow is appealing the Vale Council’s rejection of its plans to the Welsh Government. 

Mr Cairns is keen for local residents and businesses to submit their representations and opinions with Welsh Government’s Planning Inspectorate by the 14th February 2012.

Faster broadband on the way for Cowbridge

Alun Cairns MP has welcomed BT’s announcement that Cowbridge will be included in the 130,000 homes and businesses in Wales that will have access to faster broadband by the summer of 2012.  Cowbridge will be one of the first communities to be upgraded and should receive the better capacity broadband by April 2012. Vale MP meets schoolboy campaigner for better broadband in Ogmore by Sea

Last week Alun Cairns MP met with schoolboys from Ogmore by Sea who have started a petition to garner support for better broadband for the community.

Good news for local campaigners against Bryn Hill development

Vale MP Alun Cairns has highlighted that the Vale Council’s Draft Local Development Plan will be published for consultation, if the Council Cabinet approve the document as we go to press.

The plan provides the blueprint for development across the Vale over the next 15 years, if it is agreed to by the Council Cabinet.  Mr Cairns welcomed the fact that within the draft plan, the Brynhill Gold Club site is not included for any part to be developed. Read more →
